MMO: "Vanguard"

+ some of the best graphics out there in one respect (not as good as AoC but still more "suitable" to the game than AoC's)
+ best character creation ever
+ largest number of races/classes ever
+ huge, huge - endless - areas
+ (non instanced)
+ hardcore gameplay, hardcore pk
+ really feels like you're in a world rather than on some linear FPS map

- forced antialiasing/something messes the graphics up (HD4870) and you have to reinstall driver to fix
- apparently hugely imba, bugged, unfinished, and therefore low pop.

Summary:
If I had friends to play this with, I probably would. So long as I could fix the graphics problem I was having (28'' screen I really need some antialiasing or something..)
MUD: "Discworld"

+ most detailed game you've ever played
+ 11+ years of dedicated staff and players
+ accurate and honest to the novels
+ massive and completely non-linear areas, ever-expanding
+ funny, clever, thrilling, a complete world of experience; takes literally years to explore (if this can ever be done)
+ best skills, PK, combat, roleplay, quest etc system you are likely to ever experience
+ implementation is superb
+ skills run into the "infinite"
+ heavily centred around "player skill", although at higher levels "character skill" cannot be combatted
+ design allows for endless strategy

- run purely by volunteers, which from both a game and moderation standpoint causes innumerable issues (some classes get more attention than others, moderators can delete you if you annoy them, etc etc)
- set in the Discworld so "nonmagical" skills are often mundane (warriors can "bash", "impale" etc)
- has been known to lag, perhaps fixed now
- small population with huge amounts of elitism/favourtism throughout and between players and coders (although no "cheating")
- players are overprotective of "their game" to the point of being rediculously closed-minded, as such suggestions for improvement are often met with spellbinding idiocy
- combat system has been slowed down

Summary:
This is "The" ultimate game if you're looking for immersion, interactivity, gameplay, social, detail, playerkilling, roleplaying, complexity, playability... no other MUD nor game has ever come close. But beware: if you're a griefer or like to swear in public, or be rude or generally let yourself go, you might find yourself losing your character after 500 or even 5000 hours of gameplay.
MMO: "Cabal"

+ awesome skill animations
+ graphics not dire
+ quests were actually fun/interesting to read (but not so much to complete)
+ interesting and decent "combo" combat system (basically you spam skills with timing for damage bonuses)
+ nice perks (limit breaker style)

- linear and extremely small areas
- do nothing but quest for the first 40 or so levels (grinding mobs is useless)
- poor character customisation/choice
- lacked "substance"

Summary:
I really hope developers look at this game and see how attractive its flamboyant skill animations are. Unfortunately developers "have" to be minimalistic because most people have shit computers.
MMO: "Warhammer"

+ gameplay wasn't ghastly, didn't stand out though either
+ very smooth system/interface
+ cool "instant transport to small RvR battle" system

- low population (overestimated number of servers?)
- endgame fails to low population
- uninspiring, linear format (progressing down the map)
- completely shit graphics for a mainstream P2P of 2008

Summary:
Played for a while, lost interest, subscription ran out, won't be renewing.
MMO: "Mabinogi"

+ completely original "rock paper sissors hat" skill-based combat
+ super cute, very suitable graphics
+ enormous customisation in the form of being able to buy any number of different outfits for your character, can also choose your "age" and will slowly grow up over time
+ fun quirky skills which require ingrediants, like "music", "potion making", "weaving", "cooking"

- like 4 different weapons to choose from
- 3 years behind the KOR version (so extremely unlimited)
- not much point in levelling up?? no more skills and you still die to everything in 2 hits
- levelling involves doing the same dull dungeon repeatedly until you pass out
- can't play with lag, at all

Summary:
Definately worth trying just to experience what completely original direction this game takes
MMO "Age of Conan"

+ modern(ish) graphics
+ cool skills
+ tries to be original with "FF8 limit" style "combo" system

- areas feel extremely linear
- incredibly boring and long time to get out of newbie area for each character you make
- massively imba
- boring
- no xp for killing mobs
- if you like doing nothing but boring quest after quest, play this
- good character creation, except...98% of characters you design look ugly as sin
- unintuitive melee PK system (maybe improved now)
- no character customisation as far as i can tell
- P2P but shit support. i tried to re-activate my account recently but nothing happened. i waited until the next day because i'm used to this game being slow, but still no change. so, whatever..

Summary:
Was hyped up about this. Feel sourly disappointed in many ways.
MMO "ROSE Online"

+ decent graphics? can't really remember

Summary:
Can't remember much about this. think it was P2P so i went on a private server (decent pop.). everyone was maxed out and i got bored pretty quickly. it might have been decent but certainly not worth playing on a private server where you are the only person under level 1000 or who levels in the conventional way (everyone else "cheats").
MMO: "2Moons"

+ played this more than any other MMO I think
+ decent/cool graphics, cool level designs, cool animations
+ excellent economy (player stalls, items can be upgraded indefinately)
+ very fun to grind
+ good PK potential

- very linear world, tiny range of skills
- imba PvP (one class dominates for a range of levels)
- botted to death
- might be fun to grind, but you'll be solo grinding the same dungeon maybe 50 hours non-stop, over and over and over....
- anti-PK hardcode means you might have to change servers
- fucked by botters
- economy also fucked by botters but you can still become extremely successful with intelligent trading

Summary:
Updated version of Knights Online. A huge time-waster, but I don't regret the countless hours I spent buy/selling for profit (although you could pay a botter $10 to achieve the same)
MMO: "RF Online"

+ cool rts view (dunno how useful it is tho)
+ cool items
+ can play as mechas, humans or aliens (RvR)
+ suitable graphics
+ grinding is fun, lots of great drops
+ interesting RvR system with big RvR schedualled battles, and ability to infiltrate other race's territory to kill thier newbs etc

- levelling suddenly becomes INSANELY boring and slow at a certain point (around about job-change)
- novelty wears out-> it's time to quit

Summary:
Fun to begin with, maybe worth playing with a friend. RvR was interesting.
MMO "Rappelz"

+ huge maps, ok graphics, nice looking characters
+ 9 beginning race/class, decent skill system
+ great control complexity (use of "alt" and "control" for hotkeys)
+ great use of creature summons

- boring skill animations
- PK discouraged by hard code
- killing stuff is slow, got bored quickly

Summary:
Think it's a decent game, I just wasn't able to get into it
MMO "Flyff"

+ cute graphics
+ can fly at lv20

- unpopulated
- insane grindfest, no skills for the first god-knows how many hours
- extremely newbie-unfriendly
- imba
- dumb

Summary:
Not worth the effort of getting to level 20 just to see what flying is like.
MMO "Requiem"

+ Limited but nevertheless attractive character creation / style
- Characters look different in-game so you have to test+compare your appearance 10 times

+ Fast early levelling, gameplay seemed solid
+ Graphics not shit

I made a nubile battlemage, played maybe 8 hours. Grinding was decent so I done that till level 9 before I realised quests were much much faster xp and necessary for job-change.

- By about lv15 I quit playing after realising this was pure-quest-pure-grind, my character could do nothing but kite non-stop for EVER, the spells (all 1, sorry 2 of them) got boring, the world was pretty dull; had a little potential but was EXTREMELY unfinished (huge areas with nothing in), also reading the forums found my character (->elementalist) was hugely imba and boring.

Summary:
Unplayable
